FREE WORKSHOP IN OCTOBER
The workshops will offer important information for women with breast cancer, including recommended exercises, lymphedema awareness, and pain management. Participants will learn self-help methods to address issues and concerns that can arise after breast cancer surgery and treatment, including:
- Home exercises to regain shoulder movement and strength as well as ways to improve overall cardiovascular health
- Information about lymphedema development, risk reduction, and management
- Self-management techniques for pain
- Take home information and tools for managing breast cancer
The interactive workshops will be led by Elizabeth Rummer, MSPT, co-owner of the Breast Health and Rehabilitation Center in San Francisco. She specializes in the management of post-surgical pain and impairment. Jane Clark and Regan Fedric are both Certified Cancer Exercise Specialists with many years of experience helping women regain flexibility, range of motion, and strength after breast cancer.
In addition to the workshop, each participant will receive a free one-hour evaluation from the Breast Health and Rehabilitation Center to discuss individualized treatment and management strategies.
The same workshop will be offered twice in October. The first session will be offered on Wednesday, October 7th from 6-8 pm at the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic in Oakland. Spanish translation will be provided. The second will be offered in San Francisco on Wednesday October 21st from 6-8 pm at the San Francisco Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic. Cantonese translation will be offered.
